ABSA set to be Zululand Expo's biggest sponsor for 2008 |

ABSA COMMITTED TO EXPO
The Zululand Expo, which is part of the Zululand Chamber of Business Foundation, is pleased to announce that ABSA Bank will be the biggest sponsor of this year’s Zululand Expo, which is Zululand’s premier entertainment and exhibition showcase. This huge showcase, which attracts over 200 exhibitors from all over South Africa and 27 000 visitors annually, is set to take place in Richards Bay from 25 – 27 September 2008 in Richards Bay.
“With the present economic climate, the battle for sponsorship has been extremely hard this year, but we are very pleased that ABSA Bank has committed to being the Expo’s major sponsor, with a significant financial contribution. We believe that our new partnership with ABSA Bank will be of value to both parties and the commitment shown by ABSA not only to the expo but back to the community is to be applauded”, said expo manager Virna McMaster.

This is the second initiative that ABSA have taken at the Zululand Chamber of Business Foundation recently. Already there is an ABSA SMME helpdesk located in the chamber offices, which is available to all SMME’s looking for SMME advice on banking products available to them and advice on how to build and grow their businesses.
EXPO IS THE TOWN’S LARGEST TOURIST ATTRACTER
The Zululand Expo is the largest social and business event that happens in our town, attracting over 200 exhibitors and 27 000 visitors annually.
The unique aspect of expo is that it is part of the Zululand Chamber of Business Foundation, which is a non profit organization. Organising of the event is done by a manager and assistant and a team of dedicated volunteers. What the public may not understand or appreciate is that the team begins on a nil budget each year to put the show together. It is indeed a major feat that despite many obstacles and hurdles the event has been successful over the past 8 years, as shown by the growth in the number of visitors and exhibitors.
WHAT THE PUBLIC CAN EXPECT TO SEE
Along with a choice of 200 exhibitors’ displays on show, the public can enjoy a variety of entertainment that will cater for all ages. Highlights of this year’s event will include a variety of three music concerts each night. |
