Expo planning already underway PDF Print Email

Preparation for the region’s popular and annual shop window has already begun, with six months to go before Zululand Expo 2007.

Attracting over 300 exhibitors and 30 000 visitors countrywide, this year’s annual, premier entertainment and exhibition event takes place from Thursday, 27 September until Saturday, 29 September, on the ZCBF Community Park show grounds in Richards Bay.

With stands having been sold out a month ahead of schedule for the last two years, the Expo committee has decided that exhibitors this year will only be given stands on a ‘first come first serve basis’.

‘Selection of exhibitors will be strict to avoid duplication of products and also to be able to give new exhibitors the opportunity to book space at the show.

Stands are limited so exhibitors are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment,’ said Expo Manager, Virna McMaster.

Entertainment
Meanwhile, plans for the entertainment programme, according to McMaster depends largely on the financial support received from local companies, sponsors as well as the support from the local communities.

‘We can only provide top quality entertainment and artists if we get the sponsorships from our local businesses.

‘A top band or artist costs in the region of nothing less than R30 000, excluding travel, accommodation, meals, transportation, sound and lighting costs, etc.
‘If the public wants to see top-notch artists, then they must be prepared to pay higher gate fees,’ said McMaster.

With the entry ticket at a minimal R35, visitors to the Expo can see the latest entertainment on the South African circuit and up to three to four bands or artists per day.

‘A unique concept of the show is that every year the entertainment programme starts at a nil budget and the sponsorship has to be raised to put together a programme for all age groups and cultures.

‘We are looking for sponsors to assist us and in return there are many advertising and marketing opportunities available at the show,’ said McMaster.

Sponsorship
Committed to ensuring that the Zululand Expo remains on a professional level, the Expo committee is appealing to all local business to show their support.

‘The Zululand Expo is an opportunity for all local businesses to exhibit their products and services at the show and use the Expo as an ideal branding, networking, corporate social investment and marketing opportunity.

‘It is an opportunity for everyone to participate in a safe, hassle-free family event,’ said McMaster.
